I have to say thank you so much to Kevin who was there every step of the way, set realistic goals, worked very hard to pinpoint those areas that he needed, and did it. They really, really achieved those goals.

Kevin was one of those people who really goes above and beyond. He cares deeply about his students that he works with and really spends a lot of time understanding what their needs are, focusing and pinpointing in detail on their needs, and achieving those goals. He also cares a lot about them. He was there at my son's graduation.

When my son transitioned to high school, he struggled with maintaining his grades even in the classes that he typically enjoyed. He's an avid reader and a strong verbal communicator, but he soon discovered that his writing was not at the level that his high school teachers were looking for. We sought out Advantage for help on his writing process, and his writing instructors soon discovered the key areas of weakness in his approach to academic writing. After a semester of working with Advantage, his grades improved to all As. We definitely recommend Advantage to any one of our friends.

儿子刚开始升上高中九年级的时候，感觉在英文写作上遇到了一些瓶颈。经过了Advantage老师指导，上过几节课之后，他可以独立完成作业、报告，并得到好的成绩。作为家长的我们也很开心，看到小孩子有这样子的进步。暑假的时候，老师给了建议去美国的大学拿暑期大学课程。儿子原来不是很有兴趣的，但是因为老师的坚持和努力劝说，所以他申请了上个暑假的大学课程。由于太晚决定要拿课了，很多学校都已经不收学生，Advantage很用心地帮儿子挑了一个学校，让他去申请。我觉得这整个过程以及暑期的课程对儿子来讲是很有收获的，我很感谢老师的用心指导以及建议，也很感谢Advantage这个机构。

Passion Project & Soft Skills

We develop passion projects with a students. We brainstorm, create goals, and push them to do their best and follow through on delivery. Through these projects, students should develop initiative & confidence.

Admissions Consulting

We take deep dives with a student to make sure we understand a student’s stories, values, philosophies, and ambitions. Then we begin the Advantage way of working with students to help them craft their stories for their personal statements & college applications.

After Kevin made the bold to move to Shanghai to reconnect with his Chinese heritage, he found purpose in guiding his students. He has been personally coaching and mentoring high school students for the past 6 years. He works with them by helping them find direction and work towards a higher purpose. He believes that students can find purpose by working to improve the lives of people around them.

Penny’s focus has always been on her students’ success. With Penny’s background in Psychology and her passion for brain mechanics and behavior, she is able to guide students on Advantage’s confidence and service projects. Penny works with students on their college applications to produce winning college personal statements that demonstrate identity, passion, and vulnerability.
